The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) now requires warning labels for medical devices and device packages that contain natural rubber which contacts humans. This labeling requirement is intended to warn people of the possibility of severe allergic reactions that can result from contact with proteins present in natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber.
