Avery Dennison Fasson Roll NA 7590 Auburn Rd. Painesville, Ohio 44077 | My customer will apply labels by hand. Is there a recommended method for hand applied labels? Make certain that the substrate is clean and completely dry before applying the label. The applicator’s hands must also be clean, dry and free from oils and contaminates. Remove the liner from the label (not the label from the liner) to eliminate edge lift caused by “memory curl”. Apply the label with a squeegee motion to minimize air entrapment under the label. Take time to rub down the perimeter of the label. Most label failures occur from the edges, not the center. Always avoid pre-applying the label to any other surface as a temporary holding stage until the label is applied to the final substrate. This will reduce the potential for adhesive contamination. One final reminder, these are pressure-sensitive labels; They must be pressed into contact with the substrate for best performance. ©1998-2000 Avery Dennison Corporation. All rights reserved.
